In the province of Chaco, our commitment extends to vulnerable children and families belonging to the Toba minority group. Within this region, our Nam Qom preschool stands as a unique institution, offering education in both Spanish and the children’s native language. Since our establishment in 1972, our impact has been extensive, ranging from providing essential school materials to vocational training opportunities. Notably, in 1990, we inaugurated the Toba people’s first health center, providing free healthcare to approximately 15,000 individuals. Star of Hope’s journey took root in Brazil in 1970 with the establishment of the Estrela da Esperança orphanage. Since the revolution in 1989, our focus in Romania has been on advocating for children with disabilities. Operating resource centers in eastern Romania, we offer crucial support, including food, homework assistance, and extra lessons. Our efforts extend to Roma communities, addressing various needs such as counseling, medical visits, home repairs, furniture purchases, well drilling, and livestock distribution. The Focus Business School entrepreneurship course is a key component, aiding many adults in achieving financial independence. Our involvement in Ukraine dates to the Chernobyl disaster, where our initial projects were centered around aiding children with thyroid cancer. Over the years, our initiatives have evolved to include furnishing hospitals with modern equipment and providing support to refugees at the border to Romania. Notably, our efforts in Kyiv and other communities, often in collaboration with Church partners, have included numerous transports of food and the manufacturing of wood-fired stoves.
