A reluctant beginning that changed lives

A Reluctant Beginning Expecting her second child, Karin Eriksson faced immense despair but offered her son’s life to God. Erik Gunnar, however, resisted his mother’s promise and pursued a life driven by personal ambitions, distancing himself from God’s calling.

Divine Interventions Erik Gunnar’s life took a turn when he received a message from a missionary about being chosen by God. Despite initial doubts, a life-changing moment occurred during a military exercise, leaving him physically and spiritually transformed.

Birth to the Star of Hope orphanage

Birth of Tent Mission Driven by newfound faith, Erik Gunnar initiated Tent Mission in Sweden, drawing inspiration from successful evangelistic efforts in the U.S. The Maranatha Revival and subsequent collaboration with evangelists marked the organization’s early successes.

A Call to Holistic Service During a 1969 campaign in Brazil, a profound message from God led Erik Gunnar to extend Tent Mission’s work to address the whole person – spirit, mind, and body. This revelation gave birth to the Star of Hope orphanage, focusing on the holistic well-being of children.

Provides daily assistance to 30,000 children

Star of Hope’s Growth Star of Hope expanded rapidly, evolving into a global aid organization. Today, it provides daily assistance to 20,000 children in 16 countries on all continents, with child sponsorship remaining its signature program.

The Marriage of Spiritual and Social Programs In 1987, Star of Hope International, America was established, emphasizing the inseparable connection between spiritual and social programs. The organization adheres to James 2:14-26, recognizing the importance of faith coupled with tangible actions to help the marginalized.
