Ghana Flood

In late last year, many regions around Ghana’s Akosombo Dam faced destructive floods, resulting in homes, crops, and livestock losses. While this crisis may not have made major headlines, it profoundly impacted our workers, who witnessed and felt the despair.

Thanks to generous donations, we initiated a relief effort in Mepe, a village in the Volta Region near the flooded Volta River. With a population of 16,000, including 12,000 affected by the floods, immediate assistance was crucial.

Charity, our operations manager in Ghana, collaborated with local authorities in Mepe to address urgent needs. They opted to distribute 1,000 essential supply packages containing rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, and water.

The villagers warmly welcomed this aid, expressing immense gratitude to the Star of Hope family for the swift assistance. Smiles filled the village as necessities were distributed.

The people of Mepe extend heartfelt thanks to every donor, emphasizing that these food packages not only provided emergency relief but also symbolized hope, solidarity, and a promise of a brighter tomorrow.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed! If you wish to support ongoing work in Ghana, you can donate here.
